Rules for Outdoor
Water Usage

Outdoor Watering Rules are in effect May 1 to Oct 1. The watering rules incorporate best practices for efficient outdoor water use that will help keep your landscape healthy. It’s a simple way for you to help protect our water supply now and in the future.

Outdoor Water Use Rules

Bonvue Water & Sanitation District adheres to Denver Water's water use rules and regulations.

It’s a drought. Use Only What You Need.

Denver Water has declared a Stage 1 drought

Stage 1 drought means Denver Water is asking customers to reduce their total water use (outdoors and indoors) by at least 20%, which will help stretch our water supplies and reduce the likelihood of increasing restrictions later this summer.

To help reach that goal, we are enforcing summer outdoor watering rules, including mandatory outdoor watering restrictions of two days per week on assigned days.

Outdoor Watering Rules and Restrictions

Stage 1 drought means mandatory outdoor watering is restricted to two days per week on assigned days and only allowed before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

  • Water only on your two assigned watering days.

  • Water only during cooler hours — before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

  • Don’t water during rain or high winds.

  • Fix leaking or broken sprinkler systems within 10 days.

  • Keep water off of pavement, sidewalks and streets.

  • Use a hose nozzle with a shut-off valve when hand-watering or washing your car.

Indoor Water Use

Even a small leak can waste a significant amount of water over time. Indoor self-audits are easy to perform and can help you find ways to conserve water and save money!

Water Quality Report

The Environmental Protection Agency requires public water suppliers that serve the same people year-round (community water systems) to provide consumer confidence reports to their customers. These reports are also known as annual water quality reports. This report by Denver Water summarizes information regarding water sources used, any detected contaminants, compliance within the district, as well as educational information.
